At 11:00 am on Saturday, July 11, 2015 the Hillsborough County Veterans
Council will be conducting their quarterly Field of Honor Ceremony at the
Veterans Memorial Park, 3602 SFC Paul R. Smith Memorial Highway (US Highway
301 North), Tampa, Florida to honor service men and women who have made the
supreme sacrifice during the past three months,April through June
while engaged in this country's War on Terror in Operations Inherent Resolve
andFreedom's Sentinel. There are four casualties to report for this quarter.
We will also honor the two Marines killed in a training exercise in Hawaii,
when their Osprey Aircraft crashed and the six marines killed on the
Humanitarian Mission in Nepal when their helicopter crashed in a mountain
delivering supplies.
This quarter's event will be hosted by the Veterans Council of Hillsborough
County, Inc. and the 4th Amphibious Assault Battalion, USMC, Tampa will
present the colors. The POW/MIA Chair of Honor will be on display.The
National Anthem will be sung by Thurneii "Chip" Shields, Retired U.S. Marine
and Hillsborough County Firefighter.The invocation will be offered by
Ms.Mary Ellen Harlan,Veterans Council Chaplain. There will be a fly over
with the missing man formation by Ye Mystic AirKrewe followed by a rifle
salute and TAPS by the Riverview Detachment of the Marine Corps League.
This event is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend to show
your support for America's service members. The Veterans Council of
